LSCache and WPML are Compatible

We are pleased to announce LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress is now compatible with WPML, the WordPress Multilingual Plugin!

This is good news for our global audience, many of whom speak and write in multiple languages. No longer do you need to choose between reaching a wider audience and having a faster website.

WPML gives you the ability to communicate in multiple languages from a single WordPress installation. You can learn more about that at wpml.org.

LiteSpeed Cache accelerates your WordPress site through a powerful server-side cache, and a suite of additional optimization functions. Visit our website to read about all of the features, and compare LSCWP to other WP cache plugins.

The LiteSpeed Cache and WPML plugins cooperate by pairing WPML’s language switcher with LiteSpeed’s cache vary technology. As a result, for any given page, LSCache now stores separate copies for each page in each requested language.

This means, if your home page is available in English and Spanish, and the first visitor to the page speaks English, they will be served the English version of the page from cache. If another visitor comes along and uses the language switcher to change the content to Spanish, they will be served the Spanish copy of the page from cache.

There are no special settings required in either LSCache or WPML to make this collaboration work. It’s all automatic.

If you have any questions about this, leave a comment! We’re happy to help.

Hi, Susan. Toolset is a premium plugin, and we have never tested it. If you want to help us determine whether there are any compatibility issues, you can drop by our Slack community and we can chat about it.

        Hi,
I have issue with currency switcher and your colleague said (I have opened ticket with that issue), that currency switcher not have own cookies and eventually is no way to caching currencys separetly like it said in your article https://blog.litespeedtech.com/2018/12/05/managing-multiple-cache-crawlers-lscache/.
Сan you comment this information and confirm, that currencies is no way to pushing in the litespeed cache separetly?

          Hi, Max.

You should confirm with the currency switcher plugin developer, to be sure that there truly is no currency cookie. But, if there is no cookie then that is correct: you cannot use the crawler to pre-cache the site based on currencies.

    Hi,

The compatibility between LiteSpeed and WPML great, but if you want to use QUIC.cloud services it will not work properly. You can request a domain-key and the website is correctly registered at QUIC.cloud but after couple of minutes it loses the domain-key inside wordpress. Then you can’t use the service any more and you need to reconnect again, you can do this over and over again but it will keep losing the domain-key registration in wordpress. So because of this the Images Optimization-service is useless.

    Is there a solution for?

    Kind Regard,
    Pieter van Uhm

Will it work when mapping a different domain??? For example mysite.com for english and myside.de for the german site powered by WPML ?? how does the LS cache WordPress settings differ? can we control different caching per domain ?

Yes, LSCWP and WPML are compatible even with different domains mapped for different languages. Everything is handled behind the scenes, so there are no extra settings for you to change, and there is no way to configure different caching per domain. Hope this helps!

Thank you – Is there a filter or some way we can disable LS cache for one language and not another?

If your different languages are in subdirectories, then you can add the subdirectory (for example /en/) to LiteSpeed Cache > Cache > Excludes > Do Not Cache URI. Otherwise, I’m not sure if there’s a way. You might want to contact the support team at support@litespeedtech.com if you need to explore other ideas.
