LiteSpeed Cache and WPML now Compatible!

    LSCache and WPML are Compatible

We are pleased to announce LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress is now compatible with WPML, the WordPress Multilingual Plugin!

This is good news for our global audience, many of whom speak and write in multiple languages. No longer do you need to choose between reaching a wider audience and having a faster website.

WPML gives you the ability to communicate in multiple languages from a single WordPress installation. You can learn more about that at wpml.org.

LiteSpeed Cache accelerates your WordPress site through a powerful server-side cache, and a suite of additional optimization functions. Visit our website to read about all of the features, and compare LSCWP to other WP cache plugins.

The LiteSpeed Cache and WPML plugins cooperate by pairing WPML’s language switcher with LiteSpeed’s cache vary technology. As a result, for any given page, LSCache now stores separate copies for each page in each requested language.

This means, if your home page is available in English and Spanish, and the first visitor to the page speaks English, they will be served the English version of the page from cache. If another visitor comes along and uses the language switcher to change the content to Spanish, they will be served the Spanish copy of the page from cache.

There are no special settings required in either LSCache or WPML to make this collaboration work. It’s all automatic.

If you have any questions about this, leave a comment! We’re happy to help.

  • Introducing Our Affiliate Program!

    Introducing Our Affiliate Program!

    LiteSpeed Affiliate Program

Hey, LiteSpeeders! We know that word-of-mouth and supportive customers are at the heart of our success. And with that in mind, we’d like to show our appreciation for your efforts, and at the same time encourage some of you more silent types to speak up. Share your LiteSpeed love with the world!

    Introducing our new Affiliate Program

Here’s how it works: you spread the word about LiteSpeed Web Server, and we’ll share some of the revenue from any new customers you refer!

    Specifically:

    • Earn 10% of the revenue from your referred new customer’s first order of licensed products.
    • Every month, continue to earn 10% of the revenue from those licenses for the life of the licenses!

So, let’s say you share your affiliate link with your friend, and she uses it to become a LiteSpeed customer and purchase $25-worth of monthly leased licenses. You earn $2.50 every single month until she cancels the license!

If she uses a coupon and only pays $20.00/month for the licenses, then you earn $2.00/month.

If she downgrades to a $10/month license, you start earning $1.00/month.

Maybe she upgrades to a more expensive license and starts paying $35/month. That’s good news for you, because your monthly payout changes to $3.50..

Let’s say your friend is the indecisive type, and doesn’t purchase a license right away. It’s ok, because as long as she becomes a customer and buys a licensed product within 45 days, you still get a commission.

Commissions are kept in “pending” status for 90 days. If, after 90 days, the licenses you referred are still active, you earn your commission. Once your balance reaches $50, you can request to have it applied to your LiteSpeed account as a credit, and use it to pay for your own licenses. Or, if you prefer cash, you can withdraw your earnings to your PayPal account, once the balance reaches $100.

Signing up is Fast and Free

Visit our website to get all of the details, read the Terms of Service, and click any of the Join Now buttons. You can create a LiteSpeed account if you don’t already have one, apply for the Affiliate Program, and be instantly approved. There’s no waiting around!

Once you’re in, you can use the banners and text links we provide with your unique affiliate code. Share your links on your blog or on social media. Write an in-depth review, or just a quick, “hey, check this out!” kind of post. It’s up to you.

After that, you can start monitoring how you’re doing. Drop by the Affiliate dashboard in your LiteSpeed account to check clicks, signups, your conversion rate, payouts and your referrals all in one place.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, and thank you for sharing LiteSpeed with your social networks!

  • Announcing New Licensing Options

    Announcing New Licensing Options

New Licenses for LiteSpeed Web Server

One of the exciting new developments to come out of the release of LiteSpeed Web Server 5.3, is a revision to our license structure. We think you will like these new changes.

    Effective immediately:

    1. All licenses will have new names and clearer branding
    2. LSCache is included by default in all licenses
    3. We’ve added a new FREE Starter license and new Site Owner licenses

    Revised License Structure

We know that choosing a license in the past may have been complicated, so we’ve added a few new licenses for LiteSpeed Web Server, and retired a few others, in order to simplify our offerings. All licenses now fall under one of three categories: Starter, Site Owner and Web Host.

Site Owner licenses are geared toward single websites (5 domains or less) and are available at price points that are affordable for individuals.

Web Host licenses allow unlimited domains, and most of them also allow unlimited memory. Price varies based on the number of workers you require. If you previously had a VPS license, you will find one of the Web Host licenses to be comparable..

We’ll talk about the Starter license in more detail below.

The brand new licenses (those that are not based on a previously-existing license) require LiteSpeed Web Server v5.3, so be sure to update your server to the latest version before trying to buy/upgrade to one of the new licenses!

    LSCache Included With Every License

All of the licenses now come with LSCache, our exclusive server-level full-page caching module, no add-on required. LSCache can make a huge difference in terms of server resources. Hosting providers who have enabled LSCache have seen their server capacity increase dramatically, allowing them to host more customers on the same hardware.

Site owners like LSCache because it can interface with a variety of popular web apps through our plugins. Or they can customize it for their own applications through rewrite rules. An LSCache-powered web app is a fast web app.

Please note that while LSCache is now included with the license, the LiteMage cache solution for Magento is still only available through a separate add-on purchase.

    FREE Starter License

And now for something 100% free! One of our newly-introduced licenses is the Starter License. This is a single-domain, 2GB license with 1 worker, and LSCache included. It’s a great option for site owners who have simple needs, or for those who want to try LiteSpeed Web Server for an extended period on a single site before committing to a more robust Site Owner license.

Here’s a handy chart to help you compare the new licenses and choose the one that’s right for you.

License Domain Limit* Workers RAM Limit Monthly Price Compare to
    Starter 1 1 2 GB FREE n/a
    Site Owner 5 1 8 GB $10 n/a
    Site Owner Plus 5 1 Unlimited $16 n/a
Web Host Lite Unlimited 1 8 GB $26 UltraVPS + LSCache
without platform restriction or 800 concurrent connection limit
Web Host Essential Unlimited 1 Unlimited $36 1-CPU + LSCache
    with lower price
Web Host Professional Unlimited 2 Unlimited $46 2-CPU License
Web Host Enterprise Unlimited 4 Unlimited $65 4-CPU License
Web Host Elite Unlimited Configurable Unlimited $92 8-CPU License with ability to configure qty of workers

    * Domain Limits apply to top-level domains only. There is no limit on subdomains.

Please note, all information is current as of this writing, but is subject to change. Please visit the store to see the latest pricing and features.

    A Note for Site Owners

Depending on your comfort level, buying a license directly from LiteSpeed might not be the right choice for you. Once you have the license, you will need to procure hosting. You will need to install, configure, and maintain your server yourself, or hire staff to do it for you.

If you’re eager to become LiteSpeed-powered, but you don’t want to handle all of the details yourself, you might prefer LiteSpeed hosting. Take a look at our Hosting Provider Partners list. These companies offer a variety of services that include LiteSpeed Web Server and the hosting you need to use it. You can get a package that includes just the right amount of hands-on server configuration for your taste. In other words, you can have complete control, or you can let the provider handle everything for you.

A Few Notes for Web Hosts

Any existing licenses and packages that you have with us will not be affected by this change, with one exception. We have lowered the 1 CPU + LSCache license price from $38/month to $36/month to match the pricing of the new Web Host Essential license.

API and WHMCS reseller module users may begin offering the new licenses at any time. (Please note, the free Starter license is not available through the API.)

We encourage you to upgrade to the new licenses at your convenience. In order to aid in the transition, we will continue to list the old license types for the time being. You can find them listed in the Legacy LSWS Licenses category.

  • LiteSpeed and the GDPR

    LiteSpeed and the GDPR

    LiteSpeed and the GDPR

As you no doubt know by now, Friday marks the day that the EU’s GDPR becomes enforceable. This means that there are certain rules you will be required to follow if you collect or process data from European customers.

LiteSpeed Technologies values your privacy as well as that of your users, and we have updated our Privacy Policy and our End User License Agreement to better reflect how we handle your (and your users’) data. We’re providing a summary here, but we encourage you to click on the links and read the actual documents.

    LiteSpeed as a Data Collector

If you are a LiteSpeed customer, you can expect that we will collect only as much information from you as is necessary to provide you with our software, licenses and any technical support you may request. We don’t currently share your data with third parties, and we have no plans to do so in the future. However, if this changes, we will update our policy and keep you informed.

If you have provided sensitive information (login credentials, etc.) while working with our support team, please know that we consider such data to be strictly confidential and we delete it from our system as soon as we close the ticket.

We have the ability to comply with any of the rights that are granted to you under the GDPR, if you should wish to exercise them.

    LiteSpeed as a Data Processor

Our software does not directly process any personally identifiable information from visitors to your site. Nevertheless, LiteSpeed may be considered a data processor, as your users’ information may be temporarily cached and/or logged.

LiteSpeed server stores any cache or log files locally on the system where you have installed the software. Our employees never access the files in any way, except as necessary in providing routine technical support if you request it.

The cache and log files are always under your control. You have the ability to decide how long (or if) to keep such files, and to delete them on demand.

    In Conclusion

LiteSpeed Technologies is compliant with the GDPR in terms of how we handle your data. Additionally, our software will not prevent you from being GDPR compliant in turn. Please be sure to see our Privacy Policy and our End User License Agreement, and read them in full. These documents will always be the most up-to-date source of information.

  • 2017: The Year in Review

    2017: The Year in Review

As the year draws to a close, we thought we’d take a moment to look back on our most memorable accomplishments of 2017. It was a year of innovation and growth, and we’re so happy to have had you along for the ride!

    QUIC

In 2017, LiteSpeed released the first production-grade mass-market QUIC implementation available for the public.

QUIC is the next generation Internet protocol, and is poised to replace HTTP/2. We introduced QUIC support in LiteSpeed Web Server and LiteSpeed Web ADC in the middle of the summer, and it has been a popular feature among our customers.

We believe in this technology and so it has been a pleasure to publicly release our open source QUIC Client Library as a way to spearhead widespread adoption of QUIC. Going forward, we are participating in the QUIC standardization process alongside Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and others. Being a part of Internet history is a humbling experience, and we are honored to have a seat at the table.

If you missed all of the excitement at the time, you can get the facts about QUIC on our website.

    Cache Plugins

Our popular LSCache module for LiteSpeed Web Server and LiteSpeed Web ADC can be configured through rewrite rules. But the easiest approach is through LSCache plugins that are designed specifically for your web app.

This year we added the LSCache Module for PrestaShop to our cache plugin family, thereby giving simple cache-management capabilities to LiteSpeed-powered PrestaShops everywhere.

Additionally, there’s the so-new-it-hasn’t-yet-been-announced LSCache for MediaWiki! Look for more information about that soon.

It’s always exciting to launch a new cache plugin, but we’ve also been having a blast enhancing one of our existing plugins as well: LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress. Over the course of 2017, this plugin has grown beyond cache management to become an all-in-one WordPress optimization solution. Some users are reporting PageSpeed scores of 100%! The reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and we thank you for that.

We’re planning more cache plugins for additional web apps in 2018, so stay tuned for that.

    LiteSpeed Web ADC

Our Web ADC load balancer features High Scalability, High Availability IP failover, Cross Datacenter Replication, Cache Data Synchronization and out-of-the box acceleration for Magento and WordPress. And this year, we added more bells and whistles, including support for QUIC, BoringSSL, TCP_FastOPN, IP2Location, and SecRemoteRules.

Additionally, the new ZeroConfig API means you can automate direct third-party management of your Web ADC’s configuration. You’ll be able to replace manual configuration of back-ends and domains using our automated message based interface.

If you haven’t given our Web ADC a chance, why not get a trial license and play with it for a few weeks?

    CyberPanel

This year OpenLiteSpeed users got a treat in the form of a shiny new control panel. CyberPanel is the only control panel built specifically for OpenLiteSpeed, and it’s free and Open Source, just like OpenLiteSpeed.

    Web Presence

Our website got a complete overhaul in April, and we continue to make improvements to it.

Around the same time, we added two more social media accounts to our online presence – you can now like and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We share informational links and behind-the-scenes glimpses of our New Jersey office. In just under one year, we have already reached almost 2k followers on Facebook, and we are so thrilled. A huge thank you to all the LiteSpeeders out there. Keep interacting with us and inspiring us! In turn, we’ll continue to post interesting content.

Speaking of interesting content, 2017 was the year we breathed new life into this blog. Since the introduction of WordPress Wednesday in May, we’ve published more than 30 tutorials and explored key caching concepts in detail. Our Developer’s Corner series has provided an opportunity for our developers to write about their projects from a technical point-of-view. This fall, we kicked off a new series, Notes from the Road, which we used to give you a peek into the QUIC Working Group Meeting in Seattle and the cPanel Convention in Florida.

We’re loving these ways of communicating with our customers, so look for additional interesting blog and social media content in 2018!

    New Team Members

This year, our team saw impressive growth. Say hello to 2017’s new faces: Tishu, Wuhua, Usman, Bob, Eric, Hai, Kacey, and Lisa (that one’s me… hi there!).

All of the members of the LiteSpeed family – those who have been here for many years and those who are relative newbies – are happy to be here, working together towards the goal of an accelerated internet!

    Coming in 2018

If you know LiteSpeed, then you know we’re never content to rest on our laurels. We’ve got so many more exciting developments to come, including:

    • New LiteSpeed Cache plugins for other popular web apps.
    • An embedded PHP module for OpenLiteSpeed, which will make OLS the fastest PHP server platform!
    • CRIU (Checkpoint Restore In User mode) support for PHP

And that’s just the beginning! Stick with us in 2018 and beyond and see what’s next!

From our family to yours: wishing you a happy and healthy New Year!

  • LiteSpeed Open-Sources QUIC Client

    LiteSpeed Open-Sources QUIC Client

    Open-Source QUIC Client

LiteSpeed Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the LiteSpeed QUIC Client Library under an open-source license. This library supports all of the QUIC versions released in the Chrome browser in the past year — v35, v37, and v39. Support for new QUIC versions, including the upcoming IETF standard, will be added in a timely manner.

The LSQUIC Client Library is a fully functional QUIC implementation in the C programming language. It has been tested on Linux, FreeBSD, and Mac OS. A working client program is included in the distribution.

We believe that LiteSpeed’s Open-Source QUIC Client Library is free of major issues, for most of the QUIC code in it is already being used in our own products, LiteSpeed Web Server and Web ADC. Nevertheless, do not hesitate to report any bugs back to us.

Open-sourcing our QUIC code is a way for LiteSpeed to contribute back to the community and to facilitate the adoption of QUIC.
