{"id":849,"date":"2013-05-23T17:35:37","date_gmt":"2013-05-23T21:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.litespeedtech.com\/?p=849"},"modified":"2013-05-23T17:35:37","modified_gmt":"2013-05-23T21:35:37","slug":"php-lsapi-6-2-is-out-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lswp.store\/index.php\/2013\/05\/23\/php-lsapi-6-2-is-out-too\/","title":{"rendered":"PHP LSAPI 6.2 Is Out, Too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHP LSAPI 6.2&#8217;s new features should lead to improved memory usage.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.litespeedtech.com\/lsapi-downloads.html\">PHP LSAPI 6.2<\/a> has three important updates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Added the ability for the suEXEC daemon to kill runaway child processes.<\/li>\n<li>Speeded up recycling of child processes for better memory usage.<\/li>\n<li>Changed process naming, allowed for shorter process names.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last two upgrades are self-explanatory: process names no longer include the whole path, which should make it easier to sift through your top -c commands; child processes get recycled faster, which means less memory wasted.<\/p>\n<p>The first feature, though, bears a short explanation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The daemon can kill runaway child processes:<\/strong>\u00a0That sounds just horrible, but it&#8217;s completely necessary. Until now, the PHP suEXEC daemon was powerless when a process failed to stop. Now the daemon waits a moment for each process to stop on its own and sends a kill signal to processes that don&#8217;t stop automatically.<\/p>\n<p>We hope you enjoy the newer, more efficient PHP LSAPI.
